We recently took a day trip to Solvang in California. Just a short drive from Santa Barbara, Solvang is a small Danish town and it is such a great place to experience for the day or even a full weekend. There are so many restaurants, bakeries, and wineries to try and shops to wander around. The town is super walkable and is known for its signature Danish flare.
Check out some photos from our visit below! The buildings look just like the photos I have seen of those built with traditional Danish architecture.
Up for a bike ride? There are local bike rentals to explore the town on a day trip to Solvang. They can be found right behind Solvang Park in the middle of downtown. The park has a gazebo and a large grass area that is great for picnics. If you’re lucky you can catch some great events at the park!
Nearby is also the entrance for a small shopping area called the Solvang Mall Shops. They have a beautiful courtyard and there is a restaurant, coffee, ice cream and more in there!
Keep strolling along and you’re bound to see the horse-drawn Solvang Trolley (the Honen) pass by a time or two. You can book a guided tour through the town with Solvang Trolley.
We stopped in a few places to get some treats! There are so many choices but we narrowed it down to fudge and pastries.
Here are a couple of other building designs, soldiers standing guard and a phone booth! Yes it’s a real pay phone!
We also found a boyfriend on our day trip to Solvang. He is cute and doesn’t talk back. He is just missing an eye but we don’t judge him by his looks. I guess we will have to share him for now!
